Choose your own dates and be guided in a 4x4 vehicle, customised for photography shoots, to Kintail and Lochalsh for a day of making memories.

This full day tour, with an emphasis on photography and photography tuition, explores the iconic scenery on the road to Skye and Lochalsh.

Travelling in a 4x4 vehicle, fully customised for “on-location” photography shoots, we make our way down Loch Ness side and past historic Drumnadrochit castle. From there we head over to Kintail with selected stops to admire and photograph the grandeur of the mountain scenery. The journey along the edge of beautiful Loch Duich takes us to the iconic setting of Eilean Donan Castle - and inspirational material for capturing great composition.

If time allows, a short drive will take us to the Isle of Skye and an opportunity to capture the Skye Bridge from selected viewpoints The islands of Eilean Ban, once the home of Gavin Maxwell, form part of the support for the bridge, adding to the scenic setting.

Leaving from Inverness, or our agreed meeting place, we head for Kintail, via Loch Ness, admiring the and enjoying the beautiful scenery en-route. Depending on the day and the light, there are many stops along the way to provide photographic opportunities. Loch Cluanie provides a magnificent backdrop to the mountains of Kintail and has its own special character. There’s opportunity for developing composition and using perspective to best effect on this part of our journey.

Approaching Loch Duich, we drive up to the famous Mam Ratagan Viewpoint, with stunning vistas towards the Five Sisters of Kintail and the fabulous scenery of the area. It’s a stop just made for photography and capturing of large scale landscapes…!

Once we’ve enjoyed the views from Mam Ratagan, it’s time to move on to Eilean Donan Castle, one of the most iconic castles in Scotland. We can choose to photograph from a distance, emulating some of the classic shots of the castle – or we can get up close and personal and enjoy the castle and its grounds.

If time and inclination allow, our last stop of the day, is Kyleakin on the Isle of Skye. The views to the Skye Bridge make for great photographic material and there’s lot’s of potential to photograph water, islands, boats, birdlife and perhaps the odd passing seal…

Our return journey back to Inverness is a time to reflect on the day with an opportunity to enjoy the scenery during the drive. It’s also a great opportunity to keep the photography conversation going and to review the learning experience of the day.
